IIT Gandhinagar launches new masters programme, GATE score will not be required (IIT Gandhinagar)The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has launched its second e-Masters degree programme in Data Science for Decision Making (DSDM). The institute has also opened the admission portal for the first batch starting from May 2024.
Working professionals and students with a graduate degree in a relevant field including statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, technology, science, economics or commerce can submit their applications online at sites.iitgn.ac.in/iitgnx/dsdm.
The e-Masters programme does not have requirements of GATE qualification for admission or thesis requirement for graduation.
The e-masters in Data Science for Decision Making (DSDM) programme by IITGN seeks to serve as a pioneering endeavour for upskilling industry executives and working professionals in data science education and translating their data science prowess into the art of making strategic decisions.
Unlike traditional constraints that often limit educational offerings to specific departments, the curriculum of e-Masters in DSDM at IITGN is inclusive, innovative and insightful. Practitioners from diverse backgrounds, including engineering, science, business or any other field, can join this programme that offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to data science and its application to drive tangible outcomes.
The programme participants will work on two of the real life Capstone Projects and gain hands-on insights to handle industry projects.
“Through rigorous coursework and real-world applications, the programme aims to equip students with the tools, skills, and mindset required to navigate this dynamic landscape,” an IIT Gandhinagar statement said.
The two-year programme is designed with a flexible, executive-friendly structure to enable enrolled candidates to concurrently accommodate their work commitments. It will have live interactive sessions in the evenings and on weekends, assisted by self-paced learning modules for strategic learning and discussions.
On successful completion of this degree programme, the candidates will get IITGN Alumni status as well as mentorship and placement support from the Institute. During the programme, participants will also get the opportunity to meet the experts during their 30 days of visits, spread over the two years, to the IITGN campus.
This is the second e-Masters degree programme launched by the Institute, with the first being an e-Masters in ‘Energy Policy and Regulation’, which started in the first week of January 2024.
