Colleges affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be provided a grant of up to Rs 14,000 to organise interactive talks by young entrepreneurs and startup founders on their premises, the varsity’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Enterprise announced Monday.

The centre added that it was inviting colleges to organise ‘SPPU Startup Talk Series – Conversations with Young Entrepreneurs’ at their respective institutes from February 1 to 28. The initiative aims to promote innovation, startup awareness, and experiential learning among students.

The programme will provide for two interactive talks by young entrepreneurs, focusing on their entrepreneurial journeys, innovation, startup-based challenges as well as opportunities. For this, the university will provide Rs 5,000 as honorarium for the resource person, and an additional Rs 2,000 for organisational expenses for each talk. A maximum grant of Rs 14,000 will be provided for two talks in each college.

The 90-minute talks must have a minimum participation of 100 students and must be targeted towards undergraduates, postgraduates, and research scholars, besides interested faculty members. Founders invited for the programmes should preferably be associated with incubators, startups, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), or innovation ecosystems.

Professor Devidas Golhar, Director of Innovation and Incubation Linkages at SPPU, said they decided to launch the initiative as several colleges said they had no funds to invite founders for such sessions. “Now, colleges can invite startup founders of their choice, and if they do not have anyone in mind, I can provide them with a list as well. These talks will also follow startup bootcamps that the centre has planned in various regions under the university,” Prof Golhar added.

Colleges interested in organising talks at their campuses under the initiative should fill out a Google form with the necessary details at https://forms.gle/qcbWiiafi8ti7QKv8 by January 20, the organisers said.
