Some companies are scheduled to visit the campus in the coming week.
Placement season at various Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) across the country is in full in swing. Students at IIT Bombay have bagged offers from myriad companies across sectors such as research and development, consulting, finance, and software, among others.
Many foreign companies such as Uber, Ola, etc have already hired students from the institute for domestic as well as international based roles. Among the highest offers from US firm so far, Uber has offered a base package of $1,10,000, Microsoft has made an offer of $1,06,000 and Oracle offered $1,00,000 salary package.
Japanese firms such as Works app, Rakuten and Toyo Engineering have offered base packages worth ¥60 lakh, ¥37.20 lakh and ¥35.16 lakh, respectively.
Among domestic placements, Blackstone offered Rs 35 lakh, Schlumberger offered Rs 28 lakh, World Quant offered Rs 25.20 lakh and Xerox Research made an offer of Rs 22 lakh as base package.
Among other companies who selected students for placement within the country were Intel Technologies, Samsung R&D, Goldman Sachs and Citi Corp Services India Ltd. Some companies are scheduled to visit the campus in the coming week.
“The placement season, so far, has seen a positive trend when it comes to companies versus job offers made,” an IIT Bombay spokesperson said.

The Institute had, in August this year, released a list of about nine companies which it had barred from taking part in the placement season. Some of these companies were blacklisted due to revoking offer letters, while other were found to be fake offers. One of the firms hired students under a different name but then tried to shift them to another start-up, while two others delayed joining dates.
