JEE Main 2025: Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIIT Guwahati) is an institute of national importance located in Assam. Established in 2013, it was set up by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with the Government of Assam. This year, when the Ministry of Education released the National Institutional Ranking Framework, it ranked in the band of 151-200 under the engineering category.

On the official website of the Institute, they have analysed their marks. According to it, they have decreased by 2.89 as compared to 2021. “The primary reason for this was a reduction of 2.91 marks due to the adverse faculty-student ratio. While the faculty strength has remained almost the same, the number of students has increased.” claimed the Institute as a reason for the decrease, adding that improving the faculty-student ratio is not easy for an Institute dependent entirely on its income for its functioning.

Reviewing where to build up in future NIRF 2024 rankings, it said that they have scope to increase marks under the category of Research and Professional Practice as their number of publications is good, but the quality has to improve.

Meanwhile, the Institute focuses on advanced research and education in the fields of information technology and computer science, aiming to build skilled professionals and promote innovation.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to visit the affected areas and is likely to meet families of the victims.
