CA Exam 2024: The Delhi High Court today (April 8) refused to postpone the CA 2024 exams. Justice C Hari Shankar was hearing the petition to revise the Chartered Accountants (CA) intermediate and final exams scheduled in May. CA aspirants have been urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to postpone the CA inter and final exams 2024 to June amid the 18th Lok Sabha general elections.

While the CA intermediate group 1 will be held on May 3, 5 and 9 instead of May 7, the group 2 will be held on May 11, 15 and 17, instead of May 9, 11 and 13. Final exam group 1 will be conducted on May 2, 4 and 8, instead of May 6. Group 2 of CA Final exam will be held on May 10, 14 and 16, instead of May 8, 10 and 12.

While ICAI took this decision to avoid any clash with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, CA aspirants are unhappy with the revised exam schedule, and want the inter and final exams be postponed to June in view of the elections. Child activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai is supporting the CA students in presenting this matter in front of the court.

“Considering continuous requests & hardships of CA students, we have filed a petition in Delhi HC seeking rescheduling of CA Exams from May to June 2024. HC is likely to hear it on Monday. CA students, please focus on studies. Matter is before the Court now. Let Court decide,” advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava posted on X.

CA exam for the foundation level will be held on June 20, 22, 24 and 26.

Meanwhile, the institute also announced that it will now be conducting the CA Foundation and Inter exams thrice a year, instead of the usual two attempts. While the pilot run of this new exam pattern will be implemented at the Foundation and Intermediate levels, the CA Final exam will continue to follow the traditional biannual format for a while. ICAI is likely to change the pattern from this year, after the May exams.
