Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO examination comprises three stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview. The preliminary exam is an online test featuring three sections—English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability—with a total duration of one hour. The mains exam includes sections on Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation, along with a Descriptive Test (Letter Writing & Essay), and has a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Candidates who pass the mains examination are then called for an interview conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the IBPS.

The final merit list is prepared based on the combined scores of the mains examination and the interview. Candidates who make it through this rigorous selection process are provisionally allotted to various banks based on their preferences and overall merit. This selection process ensures that only the most qualified candidates are chosen for the prestigious role of a Probationary Officer.
