With JEE Main exams around the corner, candidates have less than a week left to prepare for the entrance exam. To qualify for JEE Advanced, engineering aspirants need to score between 250-360 marks to make the cut. The higher the score, the greater the percentile and rank and only the top candidates will be eligible to compete for a seat in the coveted IIT institutions.

One of the most common questions students have during their preparation is concerning crucial topics and chapters for JEE Main 2023 and how to score 250 or above. To help candidates achieve this goal, here are some important tips and subject wise important chapters and topics to revise before the exam.

Physics

JEE Main Physics syllabus consists of around 21 chapters, with some of the most important JEE Main chapter being:

Mechanics, Oscillations and Waves, Rotational Motion, Electrostatics, Atoms and Nuclei, Current Electricity, Magnetic effect of Current and Magnetism. The Oscillations and Waves chapter covers the highest percentage of test questions, roughly 10 per cent.

In previous exams, questions from disciplines such as electrodynamics, modern physics, optics, etc were also asked. After candidates are finished with these chapters, they can move on to the easier topics, such as Units and Dimensions, Error Measurement, and Vectors.

A student must start by revising these chapters as they were most asked in previous year papers. They need to ensure that their basic concepts are clear for each chapter and topics. If students opt for this strategy, their Physics preparation will be covered thoroughly, and there are higher chances of scoring well in this section.

Chemistry

The JEE Main Chemistry syllabus consists of around 30 chapters. These are further classified as Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. While there are quite a few chapters in Chemistry, you must divide them to help you cover a vast majority of the syllabus. The following are the most important chapters for JEE Main 2023:

Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen, Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Transition Elements (d and f block) s-block Elements, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Some Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry, p-block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Chemical Thermodynamics. The Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen chapter usually accounts for the greatest number of questions in the JEE Main exam.

After completing these chapters, you should proceed to the following important ones: Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Redox Reactions, Biomolecules, Electrochemistry, Atomic Structure, Polymers, Solid State, Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry and Classification of Elements, and Periodicity in Properties.

Furthermore, once you have finished these chapters, you may go on to the easier yet critical chapters, such as Hydrogen, States of Matter, Hydrocarbons, Surface Chemistry, and so on.

Mathematics

The JEE Main Mathematics syllabus consists of around 25 chapters. It is the most important part of the JEE preparation and requires a thorough revision of the subject. The following are the most important chapters for JEE Main 2023 Math:

Integration, Differentiation, Probability, Three-Dimensional Geometry, Trigonometry, Vector Algebra, Conic Sections, Straight Lines, Sets, Relations and Functions, Matrices And Determinants.

After candidates have finished the key chapters, they must also cover the following: Limits and Continuity, Permutation and Combination, Quadratic Equations, Complex Numbers, Binomial Theorem, Circles, Sequences and Series, and Differential Equations.

After completing the chapters listed above, you may devote your focus to other important chapters such as Inverse Trigonometry, Application of Derivatives, Heights and Distances and Statistics.
