GATE 2023 Result: An Economics (Hons) final year student at DCAC College, Delhi University, Dhruv Gupta on Thursday secured the all India rank (AIR) 5 in GATE 2023 (Economics) with a score of 78.67 out of 100.
Despite securing a decent rank, Dhruv is unwilling to join any of the IITs to pursue higher studies. He rather aims to crack JNU or DU’s Post-graduate entrance exam. “I appeared in GATE just for practice. My bigger goal is to either join JNU or Delhi School of Economics to pursue a master’s degree,” Gupta said.
Talking about his preparation, the 20-year-old said, “I did not join any coaching but borrowed material from my friends enrolled in different institutions. I mostly followed my graduation books only, since the course structure of DU is really good. I didn’t go for high-level standard books and rather focused on the past year’s papers deeply, understood what these exams actually demand, and strengthened those specific concepts from online platforms like Google and YouTube,” Gupta said.
The Haryana boy aims to crack the Indian Economics Service exam after completing his post-graduate studies. “The dream to become an IAS officer was sown in my heart since childhood by my father. By the time I reached graduation, my awareness of civil services expanded and I learnt about IES. Since then, I decided to crack this exam and I have been preparing for it since early graduation years,” he shared.
