Uurja Bharatiya, a first-year student of Ruia College, has submitted a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Education Minister Vinod Tawde expressing her desire to surrender the fee concession given to girl students across Maharashtra.

On Monday, Uurja met Tawde at Mantralaya presenting a copy of the letter requesting to facilitate students like her, who can afford full fees, to surrender the concessions in their respective colleges. Tawde accepted the letter and lauded the initiative of the young student.

Speaking to The Indian Express, the student who is pursuing course in Arts faculty said, “I fully support the concept of reservation and concession for those who are needy and poor.”

But what has been worrying me was why should well-to-do families who can easily afford to pay the full fees which is extremely low avail the concessions, she added.
