The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) commenced the Class 12 exams on February 1, and the results for the same are expected to release this month-end. According to the data provided by the Board, over 13,18,227 students appeared for the intermediate (class 12) exam, out of which 6,36,432 were girls and 6,81,795 were boys. Like in most state boards, BSEB girls have performed better than boys. In 2022, the overall passing percentage was 83.39 per cent for girls and 78.04 per cent for boys. Girls also dominated Commerce and Arts stream with a passing percentage of 93.89 per cent (88.52 per cent for boys), and 81.28 per cent (76.66 per cent for boys), respectively. This was also proved by the inter compartment exams where a total of 44,084 had appeared for the exams, out of which 21,073 were girls and 23,011 were boys. However, interestingly, boys had secured the top ranks in all three streams in the 2022 exams. Even in 2021, girls had a higher pass percentage than boys as they had recorded a pass percentage of 80.57, while boys registered a pass percentage of 75.71 per cent, i.e. 6,76,518 were boys while 6,16,536 were girls. However, 2021 had seen girls toppers in all three streams as in the science stream, Sonali Kumari had topped with 471 marks. Sunanda Kumari was the topper in the commerce stream, while Madhu Bharti and Kailash Kumar were from the arts.
