Whistle stop

The one spiritual destination that attracts Bollywood as much as the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai is the Ajmer Sharif dargah.

Praying for Players

The one spiritual destination that attracts Bollywood as much as the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai is the Ajmer Sharif dargah. This year saw the cast and crew of several films heading for the dargah before their films released. Ajay Devgn went, with wife Kajol and two children, before the release of Rascals; Ekta Kapoor visited with Emraan Hashmi before The Dirty Picture hit the theatres and Esha Deol prayed for the success of her relaunch Tell Me O Khuda. A recent visitor was Abhishek Bachchan, whose film Players is up for release. The actor was in Jaipur for the film’s promotion on Wednesday and reportedly had a few hours free. Bachchan decided to pay a visit, his first in the last seven years. Our guess is that he had a twin reason: praying for the film’s success and his little baby girl.

Regional Flavour

By the end of 2012,Sonakshi Sinha will have played a belle from almost all northern regions of the country. The actress started her career in Dabangg, portraying the role of a villager from the Hindi-speaking belt. Both Joker and Son of Sardar see her play a Punjabi, whereas Rowdy Rathore has Sinha play a Bihari. The 26-year-old,who has recently concluded the first schedule of Son of Sardar,is already in Kolkata where she begins shooting for Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera,in which she plays a Bengali girl.

Hitched

To the surprise of his fans, popular television actor Swapnil Joshi recently tied the knot. The possible reason as to how he managed to keep it quiet is that the actor did not marry anyone from the entertainment industry. His wife,Leena Aradhye,is a dentist. The wedding took place on December 16 at the Taj Hotel in Aurangabad and the invitees included only close friends and family. It was an arranged match and the wedding was traditional Maharashtrian.

Jassi is Back

She established herself with a fiction show,Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin,on Sony, but has stayed away from the format ever since. Finally,Mona Singh is back with a new show, where she won’t be an anchor. The actor will be seen in a fiction show, again on Sony. The story and concept are being kept under wraps. The show,Bas Itnii Si Baat,is being produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms.
