Veterans’ cricket: WPCA beat PCMC

WPCA(Western Poona Cricket Academy) defeated PCMC by 26 runs in the Veterans Cricket Tournament being played at the NCL Cricket Ground on Monday.

WPCA(Western Poona Cricket Academy) defeated PCMC by 26 runs in the Veterans Cricket Tournament being played at the NCL Cricket Ground on Monday.

WPCA batted first and put up a total of 151 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mahesh Nimhan top-scored with 51 runs off 43 balls which included three fours and one six. Sunil Mandan supported him well with 42 runs off 36 balls which included 4 boundaries. The first wicket partnership of 61 runs between Nimhan and Rohit Dutta helped steer their team to a decent total.

In reply,PCMC managed to score only 125 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs,thus falling short by 26 runs. Vikas Shirvale top-scored with 41 runs while Sunil Renuse scored 32.

The first wicket partnership of 68 runs between Sunil and Vikas gave PCMC a good start but the batsmen who followed could not make use of this start and PCMC fell short of the target. Sunil Mandan and Gyaneshwar Jagdale of WPCA did most of the damage, picking up a couple of wickets each.
