Two Oman nationals were arrested on Thursday for using fake Indian currency at Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Bundgarden Road. Police also recovered from them 121 fake currency notes of Rs 1,000,Rs 500 and Rs 100 denomination, along with a laptop and a printer.

The suspects have been identified as Khalifa Ali Mohammed Al Fajari (22) and Khamir Ali Mohammed Al Fajari (31) of Oman. Police said the duo had come to India on a tourist visa. They checked into the hotel on August 16 and stayed in room number 504.

While checking out around 4.45 pm on August 18,they paid a bill of Rs 7,500 at the cash counter that included seven notes of Rs 1,000 denomination and one of Rs 500. The duo then asked the staff to keep their belongings including a colour printer, lap top and bag, safely for sometime at the hotel. They told the hotel staff that they were going out and would return in sometime to take their belongings.

When the hotel staff checked the money they paid, they found two notes of Rs 1,000 denomination had the same number. It was confirmed that both the notes were fake. The hotel staff informed the police and a team of Bundgarden police held them. Police found that the suspects scanned Indian currency notes on their lap top, printed them and used them.
