Vivek Velankar,President of the Sajag Grahak Manch has alleged that the tenders called for providing basic computer education to Transco employees amounted to wasteful expenditure.
In a letter written to the managing director of Mahatransco,Velankar has referred to the tender number MSETCL/CE(SP)/T-1/01/2009 about providing basc computer training to employees of Transco and pointed out that the tender is for basic computer education to 244 executives and 5515 staff menbers for 8 hours (1 day) and 24 (hours) 3 days each. The estimated cost is Rs 87 lakh which accounts for expenditure worth Rs 1500 per person. Velankar claimed that beginners in the computer field can learn nothing if they are bombarded for 8 hours / 24 hours training at a stretch. The state government has has identified a course like MS-CIT which is conducted for 75 hours ( including practicles) distributed over 3 months for Basic Computer education whose expenditue is Rs 2200. So what is the point in having a crash course of 8 / 24 hours spending 1500 Rs. per person ending with hardly any retention of knowledge, said Velankar.
