Vehicles have been strictly prohibited from using internal roads of Mamurdi village for coming to the stadium. Since the approach roads to the stadium are very narrow, drivers have been appealed not to overtake other vehicles and drive in a single line.
The PIMPRI CHINCHWAD police have issued a notification notifying traffic changes that will be in force around Gahunje area in Pune, including the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, for the fourth T20I between India and England that will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium on January 31.
The orders were issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) of Pimpri Chinchwad Bapu Bangar on Wednesday. The notification states that as a large number of people are expected to visit the area for the match, it can lead to traffic congestion.
As per the notification, the vehicles with VVIP, VIP passes and passes of emergency service vehicles will be allowed towards from the stadium from service road of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway on the side of the stadium.
Vehicles coming from Mumbai side will have to take left from the Dehu Road exit of the expressway and come to the stadium and its parking, using the service road next to Mamurdi village. Vehicles coming to the expressway can take U-turn at Mukai Chowk after Kivale Bridge and then use the service road along Symbiosis College to reach the stadium and its parking.
Vehicles using the Old Pune-Mumbai highway can take a U-turn at Central Chowk and then reach the stadium parking via Sai Nagar Phata. Vehicles using the Old Pune-Mumbai highway have been prohibited from coming to Mamurdi underpass via Somatne Phata.
Vehicles coming from Pune side are to take the route of Pune-Bangalore highway, Kiwale bridge, take left and then take the left side service road of the expressway to reach the stadium. Vehicles coming from Nigdi can go towards Ravet Chowk, Bhondwe Chowk, Mukai Chowk and then take left side service road of the expressway to reach the stadium.
Entry of heavy vehicles will be banned from 3pm on the day of the match till midnight on the road between Mamurdi to Kanetkar Bungalow and Mamurdi to Gahunje. Heavy vehicles will also be banned on route via Krushna Chowk to Mamurdi underpass, Old Pune-Mumbai highway to Gahunje stadium.
