As per an FIR filed based on a complaint by Vikram (25), president of Dingore Duttwadi in Junnar, hailing from Sendhwa tehsil of Barwani district in MP, said that a group of five workers who have been working in different farms on Sunday, were heading towards village Dingore to eat at a prasad programme arranged at Ganesh Pandal.
As per the FIR, while walking along the highway, an SUV came from behind them and mowed them down.
“We fell in a trench along the highway. The car also came into the trench. The driver tried to escape and although he knew that three of us were laying directly behind the vehicle, he reversed it and crushed them under the car and fled from the spot,” said Vikram in his complaint registered at Otur Police Station.
Officers investigating the case said that after fleeing the scene of the accident, the SUV driver abandoned the vehicle at some distance from the location of the accident.
The number plate of the vehicle had detached and dropped at the spot of the accident.
