Various temples in the city which have goddesses as deities,such as Mahalaxmi and Chatuhshringi temples,are gearing up to celebrate the Navratri festival,which starts Friday.
The Bansilal Ramnath Charitable Trust,which runs the show for the Mahalaxmi Temple,said in a release: The trust will hold the Navratri celebrations for the 26th year in a row. It has provided an insurance cover worth around Rs 4 crore to the devotees this year. The trust has installed 20 CCTV cameras. Commissioner of Police Meeran Borvankar will inaugurate the temple illumination. Marathi actor Prasad Oak will also be present for an event. Considering the traffic conditions,the temple authorities have cancelled processions and will instead give school stationery to students,it said.
The Durgamata Navratra Utsav Mandal has decided to honour individuals who have made contributions to society.
The Chatuhshringi Temple Trust,Taljai Temple and Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple have also organised a number of religious programmes for the occasion.
