Aiming at helping students pursue a social cause during summer vacations,Center for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) has come up with An idea of change. The program will help students get exposure to social problems by teaching underprivileged children and to working with displaced communities in remote areas. The program will be in the form of a 30-45 day summer placement for students between the age group of 18 to 25 years. It will be conducted by CYDA in collaboration with The National Foundation for India. The initiative began in 2004 and the program has changed the students attitudes,perspective and also helped them develop their communication skills and ability to handle situation better, said Kritika Mattoo,manager,resource mobilisation,CYDA. Akshata Shinde who was a part of one of the summer exposure programs said,During the program,I went to Bilaspur and was engaged with various groups to discuss the issue of gender inequality in the village and understands the situation. The last date for registration is April 30.
