With the change in season now apparent, designers across the country are working in top gear to roll out their new collections. Bright and vibrant best describes Sonam Modis Spring-Summer 2013 collection that was formally unveiled in Mumbai last week. Spotted at the launch was model and actor Gauhar Khan, who looked resplendent in citrus orange ensemble from the designers latest collection. Actors Vidya Malvade,Evelyn Sharma,Hazel Keech were also present. Modi, who made her debut at Lakme Fashion Week in the Gen Next category in 2009,is now known for her use of diverse textures and traditional embellishments. Her latest collection, under her signature label Sonam M,showcases her fancy for colours. We like the fact that she keeps her cuts clean and embellishments subtle. The line-up for the season ahead includes embellished kotis (short jackets),anarkali suits, lehengas and worked-on dupattas that can work well as separates too.
House Proud
One of Chinas well-known faces internationally, actor and singer Li Bingbing and luxury fashion house Gucci have a well-known mutual admiration. She has been rightly called Guccis torchbearer in China (The Telegraph,UK). Gucci has announced that the actor will once again star in a special advertising campaign dedicated to the Houses collection of handbags, eyewear, fine jewellery, and timepieces. Conceived by Creative Director Frida Giannini, the portraits have been shot in Los Angeles by international photographer Sølve Sundsbø. The third installment of the campaign features both classic accessories as well as new styles like the Interlocking timepiece. The newest addition to the Gucci Timepieces range,it is featured in stainless steel and in large 37mm size as is the Horsebit cocktail ring in 18kt yellow gold. The highlight of this collection, created in partnership with the Bingbing,an avid supporter of environmental causes,is the use of materials from sustainable, renewable sources such as bamboo and the tagua nut,or vegetable ivory,an alternative to animal-based ivory.
