The Pune Cantonment Board will soon install a bio-metric system to ensure that the employees report to work on time. In a finance committee meeting,chaired by PCB member Shailendra Bidkar,it was decided that the facility would be introduced at the cantonment office and later extended to other offices. M/S Discreet Solutions Private Ltd have been roped in to install the system.
This has been decided in order to ensure that the officials come on time. While the attendance register could be tampered wit,this cant be done with the biometric system and this will also ensure the punctuality of the staff, said a cantonment board member. The biometric system is being installed at nearly Rs 3.4 lakh. According to officials,the cantonment board had received two other tenders,from Scotand Securities and Isha Enterprises,which had offered to install the bio-metric system at a cost of Rs 6.08 lakh and 5.65 lakh respectively.
The PCB had called the bids for the biometric system on the insistence of the members that this system was needed at the office in order to ensure the accountability among the office staff. The cantonment board which received three bids for the installation of the system approved the lowest tender of Discreet Solutions. The entire biometric system is being installed at nearly Rs 3.4 lakh.
