Bollywood photographer Sameer Belvalkar,who has established himself in the industry of cameras and lights as a known name,has organised a two-day photography workshop titled Aperture Overtures for amateurs and people who engage in photography as a hobby. The workshop will be held on May 30 and 31at Hotel Ivy Studios 9.30 am onwards. “The workshop is open to all those who have an inclination towards this profession and will be taught the basics of how to use a camera and take creative pictures,” said Belvalkar. Acclaimed for his still photography for Jodhaa Akbar,Belvalkar is currently shooting for My Name is Khan.

Cultural revival
The Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal will be organising a rally today as part of ongoing film festival,Marathi Chitrapat Mahotsav. The rally,which is a build-up to the awards function,which will take place this evening at Balewadi Stadium,aims to create awareness about the ongoing festival,as well as Marathi films in general. It will start at 9 am from Prabhat Talkies,pass through Appa Balwant Chowk and Kelkar Road and end at the Bal Gandharva Rangmandir on J M Road.

Need for speed
If bikes and biking are a passion,if stunts give you a high,get set to ride the MTV Stunt Mania,India’s first ever biking stunt reality show. The city auditions will be held on May 30 at Deccan College Ground,Yerwada. Judging the show will be celebrated stunt guru Alan Amin. This heart pounding eight-part series will have 10 of India’s most passionate bikers perform stunts on their Pulsars to face–off in true reality TV format and in front of a live audience. Get ready to watch them learn and practice adrenaline-pumping stunts from Amin (be it a basic wheelie,stoppie,tank,flamingo,burnout,frogger,rolling stoppie) which will double up as tasks on the show.

Hobby hub
The National Defence Academy (NDA) inaugurated Expo-NDA,a three-day exhibition of its hobby club activities,which cadets take part in throughout their training. The exhibition provided the cadets with an opportunity to showcase their creativity for visiting dignitaries and parents of passing-out cadets,who are in NDA to attend the passing-out parade. With 28 outdoor clubs and eight indoor clubs displaying their work,there were a large variety of events to choose from. Minu Dhowan,the first lady of the NDA,inaugurated the exhibition at the Rakesh Sharma Block. She also gave away awards to cadets for their exceptional work in various hobby clubs,such as arts,astronomy,dramatics and debating,music,nature study as well as aquatic and equestrian sports.
