Krishna tales

Hundreds of pairs of expectant eyes gathered at Gangadham Chowk,Bibvewadi on Friday to witness a spectacle rarely seen. The curtain-raiser of the play Sambhavami yuge yuge ,to be staged every evening till November 18,took off to a rip-roaring start. On entry,a six-storied dark monster hovered in the foreground. Imposing light and sound systems stood as quiet sentinels as people across all ages shiftily waited for all seats to be filled and the show to begin. Murmurs turned to cheers and claps when the ‘chakra’ at the head of the set suddenly lit up and began a rotatory welcome. From that point on,it was razzmatazz of mythical proportions! Fake castles sporadically split and rejoined; kings roared and queens wailed; impish kids played out pranks; and there was all the drama that an epic rural set-up can promise. And lo and behold! In the midst of the human sea of over 250 artists, live horses neighed past and even horned bulls raised some dust! The audience sighed and laughed as the fortunes of the stage characters changed wildly. But,the end hero was the set. It moved and swirled, shook and lit up. It completely took over your attention.
