The model race
The sun was shining down bright but that was not the only reason why the race course dazzled on Sunday. Some of the top models in the fashion world walked the ramp as the horses hit the turf for the Jewel Square Gen Rajendrasinhji Million Trophy. In choreographed sequences by Shakir Shaikh,models Aanchal Kumar,Dipti Gujaral,Sandhya Shetty,Iris and Soma Chakraborty sizzled the runway. Later,singer Manasi Scott belted out peppy numbers to entertain those present,including Praful Chandravarkar,Ammul Goel,Amit Goel,Vishal Mody and Suraj Repe. Hosted by Nishit and Sneha Sapra,the show was a great success.

Musical treat
Pandit Rajkumar Barshikar from Kirana Gharana is organising a musical evening for the art enthusiasts in the city. Apart from Barshikar’s classical music performance,the event will also have performances by renowned flautist Pandit Rajendra Kulkarni,tabla player Avinash Patil,Pandit Pramod Marathe on harmonium and Arun Bonkar on Pakhavaj. This musical treat will be held at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya on August 29,6 pm onwards.

Plunge into fashion
On Saturday,Pune’s fashionistas were treated to new collections of acclaimed designers. A preview of the collections was held at Sade at Koregaon Park and women sauntered in between 4 and 7 pm to take a dekko at the Indian and western wear over delicious coffee. Conversations focussed on the stylish pieces,the embellished garments and the easy fabrics. On display were collections of Stoffa,James Ferreira,Paromita Banerjee,Preeti Chandra and Pratima Bhatia. The designers displayed their latest fall/winter collections,and there was quite a variety to look at – right from short and long dresses,ethno-west wear,and handloom khadi ensembles to rich angarakhas and kaftans,girly jumpers and dreamy prints. The colours ranged from spunky and chic hues to earthy shades,and there was something for every occasion.
