Third seed Shaunak Shinde clinched his first title by defeating unseeded Adarsh Gopal 10-12,11,9,9-11,11-6,11-7 in the final of the Cadet boys category of the Late Sudesh Shelar District Ranking Table-Tennis Tournament at Sanmitra Sangha.
With the match tied at 2 games each,Gopal edged ahead 4-1 in the final game but Shinde came back strongly to take a 6-4 lead with some neatly executed top-spins and services.
Gopal tied-up the game at 7-7 but Shinde then steamrolled his way through with four consecutive points to end a gripping match of long rallies in his favour.
In the final of the Cadet girls event,Neha Mahangade ended her losing streak against Ankita Patwardhan with a come-from behind victory in the summit clash edging it 11-9,6-11,7-11,11-3,11-6. Both players put up a stern test in front with Patwardhan using her top spin to good effect to take a two game lead. Mahangade came back strongly in the next two games using the whole width of the table and expertly shifting between long and short returns.
Patwardhan looked to be pulling away in the final game,edging ahead in to a 5-3 lead but Mahangade put up a more consistent show and lashed out with a few timely top-spins and immaculate services to clinch the decider 11-6.
