Sex selection: 2 docs get bail

Additional sessions judge S S Gadge on Friday granted bail to two doctors — gynaecologist Makarand Ranade and radiologist Nina Mathrani — arrested for allegedly conducting sex determination tests.

The court had granted interim bail to the two doctors on July 14 after their bail was rejected by the magistrate court. The doctors had approached the sessions court.

The doctors were arrested on July 2. Ranade and Mathrani were booked for 19 violations of the PCPNDT Act,1994 and Rules,1996.
