Uday Shetty,manager of the restaurant says “We offer seafood exclusively cooked in South Indian style,We aim to serve the best south Indian seafood prepared through different costal- line cooking culture like Andhra,Kerala,Tamil Nadu,and Karnataka.” The menu of the restaurant gives wide range of seafoods but their specialty lies in dishes like Prawns Dakshini,Andhra Prawn,prawn Balchov,crab Rajmandri,Crab Varkkal. It also provides fishes famous in South India.

Of some of the many places in the city serving sea food,the Mahesh Lunch Home on Moledina Road,has been a trusted name since the last three decades. Being the first ones to introduce the Mangalorian style of cooking seafood the restaurant prides itself on its tradition. Along with conventional Malwani recipe the,restaurant offers Mangalorian Crabs,Crab Hukka,Lobsters,Pomfret,Rohu and Surmai. Pomfret Lajawab is one of the highly served delicacies here. And as Suresh Pujari,manager of the restaurant says,“Customers prefer our restaurant because we give them the best we have and we refresh our menus on regular intervals” He further adds,“We provide good ambience along with the bar facility with exotic cocktails and exclusive wine lists.”

The city,which is host to a huge chunk of residents originally from the Konkan has a Konkan getaway in the form of Srushti,a seafood restaurant that prides itself on Konkan and Malwani cuisines that has not only endeared itself to the sea-food loving population from the coastlands but also amongst the regular public. Tandoor Surmai,Crab Tawa,Fish Platter Rawo Fry and Suke Bombil Zanzanit Masala along with Tisarya Sulya (a special recipe),are favorites that are not to be missed out. Anand Kubal Manager at Srushti says,“ Every year we organise a Seafood festival in the month of November where we offer different tastes of seafood from across the nation which is a real treat for our customers.” Abhay Joshi,a regular here says,“ My family and I have been coming to this restaurant since many years. It is the taste of the various dishes that keeps pulling us back to it.”

Nisarg

Arguably the most well known of the lot,is Nisarg which serves seafood in not only the Maharashtrian style but also from the other coastal areas of the nation namely the Bengali,and South Indian style. The specialties of the restaurant lie in Surmai Chatpata,Bombil Fry,Prawns Salt Pepper,Boneless Crabs and the Butter Garlic Prawns. “We serve different sizes of fresh full crabs and we show our customers the same before we cook the crab,” says Prakash Patil,manager of the restaurant. The ambience of the restaurant is innovative as it has fishes and other marines literally swimming around to give the place the whole sea fare feel.

The 80-seater restaurant’s interior resembles a ship,and is a sea-food special joint,while they also serve continental and Mediterranean. The ambience lures the seafood lovers to come and have the different kind of recipe it offers. The restaurant serves European,Australian,Indonesian Japanese seafood,Baker Rap Prawns,Soft Shelf Crab Maki (a Japanese cuisine),Lemon and butter steam lobsters,Australian John Dorry and many other dishes are prime attractions among the customers. Willy Praet,a Belgium national,a regular customer of the Restaurant says,“ I love to come here,because the atmosphere and the food is amazing and there is a great company of music.”
