S H Honawar passes away

S H Honawar,former senior marine navy captain passed away at his residence on Boat Club Road on Monday afternoon.

S H Honawar,former senior marine navy captain passed away at his residence on Boat Club Road on Monday afternoon. Honawar was 92 and was unwell for the past two-three years.

One of the founders of city- based Indian Maritime Foundation (IMF),Honawar served as the founder senior vice president of IMF.

“He played an important role in setting up the foundation 18 years ago,” said commodore Rajan Vir,founder,IMF,who along with Honawar founded the organisation. An ex- Dufferin,Honawar served in Merchant Navy even during World War II. ‘

He is survived by son who is currently the director of Wallem Ship Management in Hong Kong. The last rituals on captain Honawar were performed at Kailash crematorium at 10 am on Tuesday.
