The Pune police have booked a design engineer with a private firm on the charges of rape after a 29-year-old woman complained he had an affair with her for four years and had a physical relationship with her, only to marry another girl on May 28,breaking his promise to marry her.
The woman,a former employee of an IT company in Hinjewadi, filed a rape and cheating complaint against Jitendra Patil (28),a resident of Chinchwad,on Sunday with Shivajinagar police.
His marriage has been broken after the rape complaint and he is absconding, police said.
Police said the complainant lives in her native place Dhule and Patil is a native of Lahanshahade in Nandurbar district. She used to live in Azad Nagar in Kothrud, when she was working with an IT company in Hinjewadi.
In 2006,a common friend introduced her to Patil in Pune. On February 17,2006,Patil took her to a lodge in Shivajinagar area where he entered into a physical relation with her, without her consent. He assured her he would mary her, said investigation officer Maya Bankar.
She apparently kept quiet as had promised to marry her and he repeated the act with the woman, against her reluctance,at her Kothrud residence and different lodges in the city, police said. She got pregnant in 2007 and had an abortion. In March 2009,she returned to Dhule. She maintained contact with Patil in Pune as she was hopeful of getting married to him… She felt cheated when she came to know Patil had married another girl in Nandurbar on May 28 and approached police, the officer said.
Shivajinagar police booked Patil for rape and cheating under the relevant sections of the IPC. Bankar said a police team was sent to Nandurbar to arrest Patil, but he had absconded. Patils marriage was broken because of the rape complaint, Bankar said.
The complainant was sent to Sassoon Hospital on Monday for medical tests.
