The irrigation dept says it will not release any water from Khadakwasla dam as of now

It continued to rain in the city on Wednesday,too. However,the showers were not as frequent as they were on Tuesday. The Met department recorded 6.7 mm till 5.30 pm on Wednesday as against the 69.6 mm recorded till 8.30 pm on Tuesday.

Catchment areas received good rainfall. Water levels in four dams — Khadakwasla,Panshet,Varasgaon and Temghar — rose to 11.55 TMC,which is 39.61 per cent of their total capacity.

Khadakwasla recorded 11 mm of rainfall and has 1.51 TMC (76.37 per cent of its total capacity). Panshet recorded 70 mm rainfall. It has 4.37 TMC (41.06 per cent) of water. Varasgaon recorded 82 mm and water level here is 4.68 TMC (36.49 per cent) full. Temghar recorded 62 mm and has 0.99 TMC of water.

The irrigation department said it will not release water from Khadakwasla dam now. “Water will be released only when the dam levels rise 1.81 TMC ,” said Khadakwasla irrigation division incharge S N Bolbhat.
