Rahul Kumar of Siemens PLM won the 34th edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship organised jointly by the Pune District Chess Association and the Global Mind Sports Foundation on Sunday.
In his debut victory of this tournament,Kumar scored six points out of seven games to win the title with ease.
His six points earned him prize money worth Rs 2,500 along with a trophy.
Pratik Mulay came a close second with 5.5 points and 24.5 Buch while Krishnamurthy Srinath came in third with 5.5 points and 22.5 Buch.
The Best under-10 trophy went to Abhimanyu Puranik of Symbiosis School,the best under-14 trophy went to Atharva Mulay of Modern School,the best ladies trophy went to Akanksha Hagawane of DES School while the best veterans trophy went to Prakash Karmarkar.
