People with disabilities to converge for Maya Care Foundation event today

People with disabilities from across the country will converge for a day of connection, empowerment, and inspiration in Pune on Friday at an event hosted by founders of Maya CARE Foundation in partnership with Persistent Foundation.

A family-run initiative that commenced 14 years ago, Maya Care Foundation now serves the elderly and creates livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities free of cost across 72 cities in India and four in the UK.

“Since the past 14 years, Maya Care has operated as a remote model with no offices or landlines, enabling differently abled people equipped with laptops, routers and phones to coordinate with over 2,000 volunteers to serve the elderly,” said Abhay and Manjiri Joshi, founders of Maya CARE Foundation.

“We have partnered with the Persistent Foundation to make this event a reality. Together, we are creating a platform for empowerment and collaboration,” said the Joshis.

According to Sonali Deshpande, chairperson of Persistent Foundation, the mission at Maya Care foundation to serve the elderly and the disabled is a trendsetter in the field of community service. “Maya CARE has been a pioneer in providing opportunities for one group to assist and support the other,” said Deshpande.

“What distinguishes Maya CARE is its innovative Project Bindu, which empowers people with disabilities through training, mentoring, and career guidance, enabling them to achieve economic independence to find career paths in Maya CARE,” said Dr Suresh Gokhale, director of the foundation. Maya CARE’s operational core involves over 120 people with disabilities managing tasks crucial to the organization’s functioning.
