Pune: ACB arrests cop for ‘taking bribe’

The Pune unit of state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested a policeman for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person in return for not registering a complaint against him.

ACB has identified the policeman as havaldar Arun Patekar, attached to Nigdi police station. Police said that Patekar demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe from a person in lieu of registering a case against him under sections of the Mumbai Police Act. This person however approached the ACB, Pune office on Wednesday. The ACB sleuths then laid a trap and arrested Patekar for accepting bribe through an aide at the Nigdi police station.

ACB has also arrested the aide Shriparshuram Prajapati for accepting the money on behalf of Patekar.
