A power nap, said to result in better productivity and enhance memory is also a necessary break for many Puneites
If you thought that Professor Viru Sahastrabuddhe of 3 Idiots is one of the few who follow the ritual of taking a Power Nap,you may be wrong. There are many and the trend seems to be well-liked as young individuals vouch for the concept of power nap. They believe that it is helpful in stress management besides increasing productivity.
Abhishek Bhatara, director,R & A Services feels that his 15-minute-long nap brings clarity and synergy in his thought. But he does not take it on a regular basis. Since we are into recruitment and consultancy,at times the work becomes too stressful and a short nap works like magic and doubles up your efficiency at the workplace, he adds.
Similarly Museeb Rais of RIMS International School goes in for his power-nap between 3 30 to 4 oclock. He feels that this nap refreshes him so much that he can finish the work of four hours in almost half the time.
Its not just the individuals who believe in the power of nap, some of the organizations too follow it on a regular basis. Says N Chandramouli of Blue Lotus Communications,Every one goes through metabolic highs and lows and a small break can energize you. In our organization,we have not specified any time as such for the nap but we have put up few beanbags in our office premises, where any employee can take a break whenever required. On personal level,Chandramouli takes nap of 20-odd-min to relax every time he has a hectic schedule.
However,Pratik Surana,CEO,Quantum Infotrainer and consultants has a different opinion to share. He feels that if one manages his/her time in the right manner, then he/she would not require any amount of nap. Infact,he makes sure to reach the office early and leaves by 4.30. I keep a track of my sleep,it never exceeds seven hours in a day. In case I dont get that on any particular day,I make it up for it on a Sunday, says Surana.
