Additional sessions judge N P Dhote has reserved the order on a bail application filed by Prashant Shitole, the PCMC corporator arrested in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old youth, till Friday.
Shitoles lawyer Harshad Nimbalkar contended that the corporator had been falsely implicated in the case out of political rivalry in view of the upcoming civic elections. He also said Shitole was physically handicapped.
Nimbalkar told the court that Shitole was not present at the scene of murder besides submitting affidavits of three residents to corroborate the claim.
Additional public prosecutor S M Jagtap opposed the bail application, saying that Shitole and the other accused had obstructed the bike of the deceased Tushar Dhore. Also, the statement of three witnesses is recorded, which states that Shitole had caught hold of Dhore when the incident took place. The witnesses have also heard him tell his accomplices to take care of Dhore.
