One killed in bus-dumper collision

A collision between a private bus and a dumper left one dead and five injured. The incident occurred on Warje flyover on Katraj bypass on early Wednesday morning.

A collision between a private bus and a dumper left one dead and five injured. The incident occurred on Warje flyover on Katraj bypass on early Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Ghatge,a resident of Ghatkopar,Mumbai.

The injured — Shobha Bhimrao Ghadge (35),Poonam Bhimrao Ghadge (13),Parshuram Bhimrao Ghadge (11),all residents of Thane,Tanaji Bavdhane (21) and bus driver Hari Maruti Lohar (52) of Satara — have been admitted to a private hospital in the city.

The Warje police said that a private bus with passengers was on its way to Satara while the dumper was parked on the Warje flyover. The bus rammed into the dumper and later,brushed against the railings of the flyover. Ghadge,who was sitting just behind the driver of the bus,died on the spot. Apart from the driver Lohar,four other passengers,who were sitting behind him,sustained injuries.

Sub-inspector R R Waghmare of Warje Malwadi police station said the police have booked the bus driver for negligent driving. The bus was at high speed hence,the driver may have not noticed the dumper. All the injured sustained multiple fractures.
