Though six local trains are being operated from Shivajinagar and Khadki railway stations owing to mega-block at Pune railway station, the flow of commuters,on first day of the block, remained smooth with little confusion.
The railway authorities attributed this to the public being informed of the mega-block in advance.
The Shivajinagar and Khadki railway stations operated smoothly.
Though unusually long queues of passengers could be seen at tickets counters as the commuters were boarding from Khadki or Shivajinagar stations instead of the Pune railway station, there was little sign of confusion among the passengers.
Since yesterday the mega-block has been implemented and we haven’t received any complaint of inconvenience, said a railway official at the Shivajinagar railway Station.
The 10-day mega-block is being carried out for apron rehabilitation and expansion of the Platform No Six at the Pune railway station.
During this period the 99815 and 99817 Lonavala-Pune local trains will terminate at Khadki station and the 99821 Lonavala-Pune local train will be terminate at Shivajinagar railway station. The 99904 Pune-Talegaon and 99824 Pune-Lonavala locals, instead of leaving from Pune railway station, will leave from Khadki station. The 99830
Pune-Lonavala local train will leave Shivajinagar station.
I usually board the the local from Pune station but today I am traveling to Shivajinagar by an auto from where I am boarding a local for Lonavala, said K Singh,a Lonavala resident who owns a confectionery shop in the city.
The work has started at the Platform number six and is expected to be over by January 25. It is a rough estimate. The work can finish earlier or can take one or two days more as well, said Y K Singh,Railway PRO.
