With a wide range of available alternatives, choosing a career is as complex as easy. Through this column,we find out from young Puneites what leads them to their choice of profession

I guess most of us as kids dream of flying a jet plane or becoming a sumo wrestler or superman for that matter. To each kid, flying seems to be a very attractive thing, and not surprisingly,as a kid,I too was crazy about flying. But the craze got converted into a passion pretty quickly. So instead of fading away,I wanted to be a pilot all the more as I grew up. I should thank my parents for supporting my dream. Rather than letting me get into a normal engineering or medical course,I was allowed to follow my heart. So back in 2007-08,after my class XII exams,I went to Australia to train for a commercial pilot license. After that I came back to India to give an exam that would validate my license holding. Post a training of around seven to eight months,I started working with a commercial airline. It has been two years since I started working as a pilot. Frankly, getting into an airline was a tough and competitive task but now I feel good that the effort was worthwhile. It’s the job I always wanted to do and it feels like the whole experience is paying off now. But I would just say that I have been very lucky to get the right support. Doing the job that you dreamt of as a child is an amazing fuel,it motivates me,and makes me feel good.

Rather than letting his dreams fade away,21-year-old Kush Agarwal followed his passion to become an airline pilot
