Mokate is Sena-BJP man for Kothrud

Shiv sena candidate from Kothrud assembly constituency Chandrakant Mokate filed his nomination papers on Wednesday in the presence of Sena-BJP leaders Shashikant Sutar,Vikas Mathkari,Anil Shirole and others.

Shiv sena candidate from Kothrud assembly constituency Chandrakant Mokate filed his nomination papers on Wednesday in the presence of Sena-BJP leaders Shashikant Sutar,Vikas Mathkari,Anil Shirole and others. Sham Deshpande,whose name was also considered for the seat,was also present.

After submitting the papers,Mokate told mediapersons that his campaign strategy would not be to criticise the opponents. “I will not disparage my opponents or their work. I would appeal to voters to support me only if they have liked my work. If they feel that any of my relatives or I are involved in anything illegal like corruption or encroachments,then they should not vote for me,” he said.

“I am confident that no Shiv Sainik or BJP volunteer will move out of the party disapproving my candidature,” Mokate said.

Mokate said that he would focus on addressing power cuts and traffic system in the city. “We shall fine-tune our campaign strategy after a meeting of party leaders in a few days,” he said.

“Kothrud has been a Sena stronghold for 30 years and it is time that we all support our candidate and ensure that he wins by the highest margin in this constituency,” Deshpande said. Sutar,too,agreed with him.

Deshpande was one of the four persons allowed to accompany the candidate while submitting nomination papers to assistant returning officer of Kothrud constituency Rajendra Muthe.

Earlier,around 12.30 pm,Mokate and party leaders had gathered near Shivaji statue in Kothrud where he performed a pooja at a Ganesh mandir. Later,he,along with party volunteers,took out a padyatra to the Karve Road ward office. He submitted his nomination papers at 3 pm.
