The city is experiencing winter chills yet again and with the minimum temperatures dipping to 8.7 degree Celsius on Monday, the Met department has forecast another bout of cold weather in the coming days.

Over the last few days, the minimum temperature recorded was 10.8 degree Celsius and 9.2 degree Celsius. “It is bound to dip further with the existing north westerlies keeping the easterlies away,’’ said Dr PCS Rao,director, weather central,IMD Pune.

Local weather conditions have only helped keep the minimum temperatures low. A cloud cover last week saw a rise in temperature, but with clear skies now,the temperature has dipped. This trend of temperature variations has been noticed this month, with the start of January witnessing ‘above normal’ temperatures, followed by a bout of normal and below normal temperatures,he said.

The western disturbance as an upper cyclonic circulation too has moved over Jammu and Kashmir. The existing circulation in central India and clear path for the northerlies has caused the temperatures to dip again. There has been no major change in the maximum temperature.
