Crime Time

While the shocking case of 16-year-old Ansh Aggarwal being beaten to death in Andheri grabbed national headlines, his story will now be showcased on the television show Crime Patrol this weekend. Portraying his character on the screen is ex Film and Television Institute of India actor Manish Gandhi. He says that he learnt about the actual nature of Aggarwal’s death only after he auditioned for the role. “The incident had happened very close to my residence in Andheri and I had read about it in the papers. From what I had gathered people had mixed opinions about him. While he was definitely not a wrong kind of person, his company had caused people around him to react in different ways,” says Gandhi. He adds that shooting for the episode was a Herculean task. “While we were shooting the climax scene near JB Nagar in Andheri the police came and visited the scene eight times to ensure that everything was in order. It was then that I realised the impact that the actual event had on the people there,” he adds. Aggarwal was killed last month on April 17,when he was caught in a fight and was beaten to death by his friends. While Gandhi mentions that in order to prepare for the role he read up every bit of news that he could lay his hands on,he admits he has not met any of the family members.
