Fresh offence of land grab, extortion lodged against Tipu Pathan gang

The Tipu Pathan gang faces a new FIR in Pune for illegally occupying land in Sayyad Nagar and demanding Rs 25 lakh from the owner.

The Tipu Pathan gang has been booked for illegally occupying land in Pune’s Hadapsar area and demanding Rs 25 lakh from a woman.Several members are in jail, with previous cases including extortion, illegal construction, and arms supply.

A fresh offence has been registered against the dreaded Tipu Pathan gang for allegedly grabbing land from a woman and demanding Rs 25 lakh as extortion from her.

The 31-year-old woman lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Kalepadal police station on Sunday. Police said the woman is a resident of Mumbai and has a piece of land at Sayyad Nagar in Hadapsar area of Pune city.

She stated in the FIR that Tipu Pathan and his gang members took illegal possession of her land in Sayyad Nagar, allegedly constructed a tin shed on it and also rented the property to a private person.

When the woman asked them to leave, they demanded an extortion amount of Rs 25 lakh from her. They also allegedly threatened to kill the woman.

Last month, in a joint action, the Pune City Police and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), had razed alleged illegal construction made by Tipu Pathan Khwaja Manzil building at Sayyad Nagar, using a bulldozer.

Pathan and several members of his gang are currently in jail. In April this year, the Pune city police had arrested Pathan (34), resident of Mohammadwadi and others including his brother Ejaz Sattar Pathan (39), in a land grab and extortion case filed by another woman at the Kalepadal police station, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 308(2), 329(3), 351(2), 352, 189(1), 189(2), 191(2).

Police had later invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the Tipu Pathan gang in this case. A gang member Shahrukh alias Atti Rahim (29), wanted in this case, was gunned down by the police during an encounter in Solapur on June 15.

Last month, the police had also arrested members of Tipu Pathan gang for allegedly supplying country made pistols and cartridges to the dreaded Andekar gang.
