HC, 5 other courts, 2 collectorates in Gujarat get hoax bomb threats

The Gujarat High Court and at least five other courts and two collectorates across five districts of the state received bomb threats on Tuesday, prompting authorities to conduct thorough searches, in which nothing suspicious was found anywhere.

Apart from the High Court in Ahmedabad, the sessions and district courts in Rajkot, Bharuch, Surat and Anand received bomb threats. The Gandhinagar Collectorate and Bharuch Collectorate also received bomb threats, leading to evacuation of the premises and checks at the entire buildings.

“The Gujarat High Court in Ahmedabad received an email threatening to blow up its premises using RDX. Police personnel, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a dog squad conducted a thorough search of the premises after evacuating the building. No suspicious material was found,” Sola police station inspector K N Bhukan said. Following the security checks, entry into the court premises was resumed, Bhukan added.
