The Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has written to cellular companies to remove towers in the cantonment erected without permission.

It has also decided not to extend permission to Tata Teleservices for a mobile tower installed on the terrace of Col Bhagat School after authorization period expired in March last year.

Board officials say the number of towers sety up will be known only after action is taken, but roughly add the number could be not less than 12. The KCB has around 70,000 mobile subscribers. The KCB has decided to act against companies after Board members complained that some towers in residential areas were a safety hazard. Before installing towers, structural stability has to be adhered to,which has not been done by cellular companies.”
