Indira IVF – a chain of infertility treatment hospitals – recently inaugurated its new centre in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The organisation now has its presence in two locations in Pune – the hub centre in Viman Nagar, and the new addition in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The organisation has 19 centres in Maharashtra and 116 all over the country.

Dr Nitiz Murdia, managing director and co-founder of Indira IVF, said: “We are pleased to make our latest addition with our OPD in Pimpri-Chinchwad to provide assistance to couples looking to start a family. As per statistics, 10-15% of Indian couples struggle with infertility; Indira IVF’s mission has been to help such couples by eradicating the misinformation associated with it and disseminating correct information. We understand how childlessness can affect a couple’s mental health and are thus committed to providing solutions under one roof.”

“The latest National Family Health Survey has found that the total fertility rate (TFR) in India has dropped below the replacement level of 2 children per woman for the first time. In Maharashtra, the TFR has dropped to 1.7 in 2019-20 from 1.9 in 2015-16 and in fact, in urban areas, this number is down to 1.5. This can be traced to the increased number of people with hypertension, high blood sugar levels, and persons with anaemia in the state. This can pose a hindrance to one’s aspirations to become a parent,” he added in a statement issued Thursday.

Speaking about the issue of infertility in the region, Dr Amol Lunkad of Indira IVF Pune said: “It has been found that one out of six couples finds it difficult to have children. It is important to understand that infertility can be due to constitutive conditions in men or women, and in some cases, both. Assisted reproductive technology provides bespoke solutions to both men and women, supporting them throughout their journey to parenthood.”
