High-tension wires on Monday carried out the threat they had been posing on residents of Vanrai Colony at Keshav Nagar near Katraj. A woman and her two sons sustained severe burn injuries after coming in contact with a wire while drying clothes on the terrace of their house.
Local residents complained of the constant danger from high-tension wires and urged the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to shift the wires. Corporator Varsha Tapkir plans to take up the matter with the MSEDCL authorities. A team of the MSEDCL went to the spot after the incident, along with the police.
Reshma Uday Khedekar (32) had gone on the terrace to hang out her washing around 10 am. She found a wet blanket too heavy and called her sons for help. The three was spreading the wet blanket on the terrace when it came in contact with a high-tension wire passing through the terrace.
The shock tossed them a distance from spot, with Reshmas sons Sachin (12) and Sahil (5) falling off the terrace. Reshma sustained 60 per cent burns,Sachin 91 per cent and Sahil 41 per cent. All three were admitted to Sassoon Hospital.
