Joy of Giving Week
Joy of giving week is organised at Decor (Dental Care and Oral rehabilitation centre). This week is organised in between September 27 to October 3. Special consessions for all treatment are to be given,said Dr Mukund Kothawade,director of Decor. The Decor is multispeciality dental clinic situated at Satara road,Near Hotel Panchami. This gratitude week is organised as Dr Kotahwade completed 25 years in Dental Treatment service.

Knee replacement at Saishree
A unique knee joint surgery was performed by Dr Neeraj Adkar at Saishree Hospital. Fifty seven year old patient suffered from severe knee joint pain. He struggled to carry out his day today tasks. To worsen the matter,he was a known case of neurological disorder and was weighing 97 kgs,when he came to Dr Adkar. Patient’s knee X-ray showed severe arthritis in his knee joint and multiple loose bodies,that is,loose bone pieces. Dr Adkar advised him to undergo total knee replacement,to which he agreed. During the procedure,the doctor removed 24 loose bone pieces from his knee joint before doing a total knee replacement. The procedure lasted for just an hour and a half. A couple of months,since his operation,the patient is back to his work.

Brain tumour cured
An unusually large brain tumour was recently removedsuccessfully by the renowned neurosurgeon Dr Jaidev Panchawagh and his tea. The tumour was a very large meningioma,a benign tumour,which can be cured fter successful resection. It was located in and stuck to critical structures in the brain. Such large brain tumours are rare and need modern neurosurgical techniques to remove them completely. The best part,however,was,that despite the fact that the tumour was not only bi in size and locates in eloquent area of the brain,the paitnet was up and about within 24 hours of the surgery.

Healing the natural way
Nirmayee is organising a workshop on Naturopathy on Friday October 2 to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.The workshop is aimed at educating the doctors in all fields about detpxifying the body by Colon Hydrotherapy. Dental show
The Indian Dental Association (IDA) announced the World Dental Show (WDS) 2009,the largest dental show in India,from 9 to 11 October,in Mumbai. Over 20,000 members of the dental fraternity are expected to attend the World Dental Show 2009 and close to 500 stalls have already been booked. The World Dental Show 2009 (WDS) is being promoted by Indian Trade Promotion Organisation,Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs. The theme of WDS 2009 is “The Future of Dentistry is here to stay” to highlight the concept that the future of dentistry lies here,in India. The theme is further reinforced by the government’s ambitious plan of ‘Oral Health for All by 2020’. As a part of the World Dental Show 2009,IDA is also conducting a certification scientific programme on Continuing Dental Education jointly with the University of California,San Francisco.
