Music imbeds our daily life, weaving its beauty and emotion through our thoughts, activities and memories. The curative powers of music have been known for centuries. But,should it come as a surprise if music comes from the hand of the healers?
Lets Act (Life Enhancement Through Science,Arts and Charity Trust),a band of doctors mesmerized the audience on Saturday evening at Bal Gandharv Rangmandir as they rendered popular Hindi film songs for students of SPACE,an organisation of spastics.
“The band comprises more than 20 doctors from different hospitals in the city with different specialisation . Juggling between commitment to medicine and passion for music,we practice late at nights after our work and we are getting a good response from the people,” says Dr Shekhar Kulkarni, lead vocalist of the band.
“Music is our solace that relieves the stress of our profession. The consolation at the end of stressful workdays were our weekly get together where we are tied together by music,” says Dr Jaisson John.
Checking the pulse of the crowd, the band knows exactly what works to keep the hall vibing with melodious number from Hindi to popular Marathi numbers.
“The band was started in 2001 and has performed in a number of concerts, all for charity works. After the medical degree,we need only a little push to re-activate the hidden talents,” adds Kulkarni.
