An interesting mix of music and fashion is planned to mark the beginning of the weekend at Swig,Koregaon Park on Friday night. Treasure Trunk,a popular women’s clothing brand will put up a pop-up store at the joint while DJ Kini Rao and Percussionist Victoria Bourke get the party started. As Rao dishes out quirky bass lines with quirky melodies,Bourke will add her jumpy djembe beats to the high energy music.
Uzbek tunes
Uzbek classical music singer Munojat Yulchieva will be performing at a programme at Kannada Sangha on October 29. With her unique voice,the well-known and respected artist can sing male and female renditions of the best examples of Uzbek classical music. Under the guidance of her spiritual teacher Shavkat Mirzaev,she received a diploma in traditional Uzbek singing from the State Conservatory of Tashkent. For the past ten years,the famous singer toured Europe,Asia,the USA and Latin America. She recorded many albums in France and Germany and received several prestigious awards since the beginning of her career. After participating at numerous traditional music festivals throughout Europe,Brazil and the United States,the Uzbek singer was nominated in the Asia/Pacific category for the BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards. From October 27 to November 10,the group will inaugurate the Delhi International Arts Festival.
The good times
The weekend will feature an interesting concoction of music and a Coco Bazaar with the Kitch Mandi at Cocoparra,Mundwa Kharadi. The Go On Discover (G.O.D) music festival organised at the venue on Saturday will have biggies like Zedde,Blek,Modern Mafia,Bandish Projekt,Whirling Kalapas,Junkyard Groove,Madrobe Walfunction and Tom Middleton perform live whereas on Sunday the Kitch Mandi will showcase a variety of luxurious clothing and accessories to indulge in.
