German Bakery case judgment likely on April 15

The judgment in the German Bakery blast case is likely to be pronounced on April 15 with additional sessions judge N P Dhote on Tuesday adjourned hearing to April 15.

The blast left 17 dead and 60 injured at Geman Bakery in Koregaon Park on February 13,2010. The state-Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested only one suspect,identified as Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig of Beed,in the case for his alleged links to the blast.

According to ATS,Baig along with six more terror operatives of LeT and Indian Mujahideen (IM) were involved in the blast.

While suspect Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal is in the custody of investigators probing the 26/11 terror attacks,IM suspects Riyaz Bhatkal,Iqbal Bhatkal,Mohsin Choudhary and Yasin Bhatkal,and Fayaaz Kagzi of LeT are still absconding.

Special public prosecutor Raja Thakre said sufficient evidence has been submitted to the court to prove the charges against the accused. Defence lawyers A Rehman and Kaynath Shaikh claimed that Baig has been falsely implicated and there is no evidence to prove his involvement in the blast.
