Starting today evening at 8 pm,Discovery Channel will air its Curiosity series that will seek to uncover the truth behind life’s most challenging questions. From the mind of the channel’s founder John Hendricks,the series is designed to tackle the fundamental questions and underlying mysteries of our time in fields such as space,biology,geology,medicine,physics,technology,nature,archaeology,history and the human mind. Some of the big names that the series boasts of include Morgan Freeman (Parallel universes – are they real?),Stephen Hawking (Did God create the universe?),Robin Williams (How do drugs work?),Samuel L Jackson (How will the world end?) and Michelle Rodriguez (Alien invasion: are we ready?). Hosts of other episodes include Will I Am,Maggie Gyllenhaal,Adam Savage,Eli Roth,Morgan Spurlock and Mike Rowe.

The Raw & The Beautiful

Delhi-based designer Sanjay Garg will be treating saree enthusiasts to his beautiful collection of chanderi sarees. The ‘Raw Mango’ exhibition will be held at Studio Varsha Talera on October 22 and 23. On display will be sarees,dupattas and dress materials in vibrant and festive colours along with earth tones and deep hues. Garg is one of the few designers who aren’t chasing fashion weeks or the Page 3 clientele. When he wooed the city with his collection earlier this year,he remarked,”My client has to relate to my work individually and make up her own mind whether to wear a Raw Mango saree or not.”

Past-tense

Pune-based Datta Shrikhande was seen in Prayashchit,a television serial by Sony Entertainment Television. The show Prayashchit deals with real people who have committed acts of crime in the past and are seeking redemption from their own self post the punishment phase. Prayashchit was launched this month on September 9. “The show has given me a platform to accept my wrongdoings in front of the whole world,” said Shrikhande who used to be a drug addict once upon a time. Danish Khan,senior vice president,marketing,Sony Entertainment Television,said that Sony has always strived to give the viewers engaging and differentiated viewing content and the show is getting very good response.
